Green Alpha Investments Welcomes Erika Karp as President and Partner
Green Alpha Investments, a forward-thinking asset management firm that focuses solely on addressing global systemic risks, has announced the appointment of Erika Karp as its President and Partner, effective July 2025. With over 25 years of experience in finance and capital markets, Karp is recognized for her deep knowledge in sustainable and impact investing, investment banking, and the growth of unique asset management platforms.
Karp’s Role and Vision at Green Alpha
In her new role, Karp will spearhead strategic alliances and business growth initiatives while collaborating closely with the investment team to enhance Green Alpha’s influence and outreach. She is expected to play a crucial part in furthering the firm’s objective of making institutional-quality Next Economy portfolios accessible, which focus on companies tackling significant issues such as climate change, resource depletion, health crises, and other systemic challenges. “Erika’s joining us comes at a critical time as markets begin to understand that solutions driven by innovation to address systemic issues are not only beneficial due to favorable long-term trends but also serve as key contributors to sustained economic growth and competitive returns,” stated Garvin Jabusch, Chief Investment Officer and Co-Founder of Green Alpha. “Her exceptional ability to expand sustainable investment frameworks, coupled with her profound insight that thorough risk analysis is vital for investment decisions, positions her as the perfect leader to guide Green Alpha through this significant transition. The firms that are addressing humanity’s toughest challenges represent our most promising investment prospects, and Erika has a unique understanding of this synergy.”
Karp’s Impressive Background in Sustainable Finance
Karp’s notable career path includes the establishment of Cornerstone Capital Group in 2013, which she grew from the ground up to manage $1.3 billion in assets before its merger with Pathstone in 2021. At Pathstone, she held the roles of Executive Managing Director and Chief Impact Officer within a $100 billion multi-family office. Earlier in her career, Karp was a senior leader at UBS Investment Bank, where she was Managing Director and Head of Global Sector Research, contributing significantly to the bank’s sustainability initiatives worldwide. “Green Alpha’s investment philosophy, which centers on the Next Economy, signifies the future of asset management—where the most innovative and economically viable solutions to systemic issues drive both impact and financial performance,” Karp remarked. “The firm’s steadfast dedication to investing solely in solutions, rather than the root causes of global risks, aligns seamlessly with my perspective that sustainable investing should be viewed as an essential strategy rather than a niche approach. I am excited to become part of the Green Alpha team at this pivotal moment, where advancements in fields like automation, robotics, AI, and biotechnology are unlocking remarkable investment prospects.”
Green Alpha’s Growth and Commitment to Sustainable Investing
Karp’s recruitment underscores Green Alpha’s ongoing expansion and the rising interest in investment strategies that acknowledge the necessity of innovation in tackling global challenges. Established in 2007, the firm has distinguished itself as a leader in Next Economy investing, employing a proprietary methodology that recognizes companies creating solutions to systemic risks as the foremost agents of change and productivity in the 21st century. Karp is also a respected thought leader in sustainable finance, having served as a Founding Board Member of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and participated in the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Financing & Capital. Her accolades include being named among “100 Women in Impact” by Real Leaders, and she has received multiple honors, including Worth Magazine’s “Groundbreakers 2020” award and Babson College’s Lewis Institute Centennial Social Innovator Award. Karp earned her MBA in Finance from Columbia University and her BS in Economics from the Wharton School.
